- Community Development Project - A CSR project in Peddadevulapalli village of Andhra Pradesh, addressing land contamination concerns and improvement of community living standards, undertaken for Dr Reddy’s Labs.
- A LUW project done for the Environment Protection Training and Research Institute (EPTRI), a national centre working on various aspects of environment management. EPTRI had purchased solar equipments, including lanterns, driers and a television set for installation in a Chenchu (classified as a Primitive Tribal Group [PTG]) habitation, in the Srisailam area. The project consisted of providing handholding and training support to the community both in the use of the equipment, as well as conjunctive activities.
- A study, in nature of Water Management, commissioned by WWF (and CEC), on the status of the Godavari, with special emphasis on the mid-basin. The study had a heightened relevance given that several controversial irrigation projects were being proposed both in the mid and upper reaches of the river. The study was a precursor to the ‘civil society’ dialogue on the use of surplus waters in the Godavari initiated by the Godavari Vedika (Godavari Forum).
- Another project for the Centre for Environment Concerns, an active NGO working in the Medak district of A.P, on issue of food security and poverty alleviation through Natural Resources Management. The project was part of the Crop Post-Harvest Programme funded by DFID through the Natural Resources Institute (NRI), U.K.It involved a process documentation of projects implemented by them. The activity documented was the experience of poor rural women’s groups in operating and maintaining a village level sorghum storage bin for the twin purposes of enhancing their food security as well as obtaining an increased economic return from their agricultural produce.
- An OD project for a rural financial institute located in an impoverished area, supported by a year-long programme of Organisation Development Programme by CARE-CASHE, for the Koraput and Kalahandi Regional Rural Banks, two chronically loss making RRBs in the country. The project involved a detailed participative diagnosis, followed by decentralised action planning and change initiatives managed by a group of change facilitators. The effort was to engage as many staff members as possible in the process and encouraging them to go out into the field, to interact directly with customers, defaulting borrowers, and SHG members. The insights thus gained, shaped the change agenda and the assessment of the impact revealed a tangible impact on the working of the two Banks.
- Numerous HR projects undertaken for various different organisations and groups; from mid-term social impact Assessment of APUSP, for DFID, assessment of the Jogini program of Sanskar, under the auspices of Plan India, to strategic review of HR functions for Srijan and assessment of PRADAN, an NGO working in rural livelihood.
- ThinkSoft has been deeply engaged with Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT), being retained by them to develop the Trust’s strategy for HR/OD/ID funding in the development sector. This was based on a study of the experiences of the Trust in supporting OD initiatives for some of their long-term partners. Based on this work the Trust has recognized the need to develop Organizational Change Facilitators with special understanding of the development context.
We have also helped with assessment work of projects funded by the organisation - accompaniment work done for SRTT by Saathi in the nature of Program Management support, assessment of OD grants to PRADAN, etc.
- In conjunction with SRTT and Satyam Foundation, ThinkSoft is also working for knowledge building on OD practice in the development sector. Already two highly successful conferences have been concluded and various case studies, detailing experiences in change facilitation, are being documented. The first volume of this body of work shall be shortly available as a published book.
